I had a crazy productive week. I staged a home for a design client which took several days of work, and also released new holiday art prints for the season, whew! I’ve started a few DIY holiday craft projects too, I’ll be sharing those throughout November. Next weekend I’m taking a quick trip to Florida to oversee our new fence being built and to make sure the interior of the home is ready for a seasonal tenant January through March. I plan to spend next summer in Florida but we decided to rent out our furnished house during the high…

Season’s greetings! Now that it’s November it’s full steam ahead on the holiday decorating. I’ve created new art prints for the 2023 season and they are all available in my online shop. Included in the holiday art collection are the seven new original designs as well as six vintage prints that I carefully retouched and resized for your convenience. All are inexpensive downloads that allow you to print and frame in the same day. Yay! The process is simple and explained in every listing, so if you spy one you love, visit the shop and consider which one you’d like…

I’ve been working extra hours in my community ceramics studio getting ready for holiday markets coming up next month. I’ve become more skilled at throwing clay on the wheel and now have a collection of decorated and glazed vessels that will be available for sale in my local shop. I’ve also agreed to participate in a holiday market at a popular winery in Healdsburg. I’ll be selling art prints, ceramics, and other small gifts that I’ve curated. It’s my first time selling at a market so I’m excited to be jumping into that arena. I’m putting the finishing touches on…

I started prepping for Thanksgiving since I’m hosting this year. I bought new block print napkins to go with a runner I’m reusing from two years ago. I prefer to keep my table setting casual during the holidays, my theory is it helps guests relax. I added ombre tapers to the mix but everything else I’ve owned for years, including the chargers, plates, and flatware. I don’t believe you have to buy new sets of stoneware or dinnerware for holidays or special occasions. Basic white plates work just fine especially if you jazz them up with a colorful, patterned, or…

Since downsizing to our 1400 square foot house three and a half years ago (as a refresher, our previous house was more than twice as large – clocking in at 3150 square feet), you’ve probably heard us proclaim that smart storage is key. It certainly makes living in a smaller home a lot more sustainable and enjoyable, but there are also specific layout features of our house that make sharing less square footage go a lot more smoothly for us. So whether you’re thinking of downsizing, considering a new home with any of these layout details, building a new home,…

I’m very excited because a project I’ve been working on for years is complete! My kids are grown up now, they are 19 and 17, but in their youth each one participated in dozens of sporting events, camps, and performances. Each event came with its own T shirt and I’ve been saving them for years. I had been storing shirts from their elementary school, their softball and soccer teams, my son’s martial arts, my daughter’s theater camps, and so many more. I saved those shirts, as well as some of their favorite character tees, with the intention of having them…

I’m in Paris this week staying in a very small but very chic Parisian apartment filled with light and plants in the Latin Quarter. I haven’t been back in seven years so it’s lovely to be here in the fall running around town with my girlfriends. Parisian design has mastered the timeless yet contemporary mix between modern and traditional. There are elements that are distinctive to the quintessential Paris Apartment which give it the iconic look, one that is recreated across the City of Light and also copied in homes and apartments across the world. Architectural details like tall ceilings…

It’s raining this weekend here in Northern California which is always a relief when wildfires are a concern. It takes the edge off to have a bit of moisture in the air, and also puts me in the mood to make fall soup and get cozy under a throw blanket. I don’t have any plans for Halloween this year since the kids are grown up and no one we know is having a party. It gives me more time to focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas since we’re hosting so I’ll be decorating early in November instead of waiting until the…

Greetings friends, and welcome October! This weekend I’m wandering around Netherlands for a few days and I’ll be back in the States later this week. We’re eating a lot of cheese and enjoying local culinary specialties! Amsterdam is an exciting place to explore and the equally scenic cities of Netherlands are just a 45 minute train ride away. My favorite thing to do is explore on foot and Amsterdam happens to be one of Europe’s most walkable cities and so lovely in the fall. I’ll be sharing pictures on Instagram stories. 🙂 Favorite links from the week: The inspiring projects…

I’ve had this faux leather jacket for five years and it still looks good, so much so I wore it all over Paris and Amsterdam. It was affordable when I bought it and still is! Unlike other faux leather jackets that peel in the seams after wearing them for a year, this one has stood the test of time. I prefer jackets to sweatshirts or sweaters when traveling, they feel more structured and pulled together. Below are a more modern moto favorites from the season, all under $200.     caramel faux leather (three colors) /  blue denim faux leather…
