This week I finished the final touches on our daughter’s room/guest room. This has been my baby girl’s room since she was born, it’s gone through several makeovers from nursery to girl’s bunk room. Since she’s twenty now and away at university, this space was due for a makeover, so I gave it one more update to serve a modern purpose.

Her style is very boho and she loves plants so I kept that in mind when giving this space an update. I didn’t spend much beyond the new linens and headboard, I mostly reused pieces I already had. This budget friendly makeover transformed this bedroom into a part time guest room for when friends or family visit, but is also the my space daughter occupies when she’s on break from school and during the summer.

The golden drum end table is “vintage” World Market, I had one leftover from this dining room makeover from eleven years ago and I’ve always kept it because I love its shape and color. Now it lives in this bedroom space next to a rattan accent chair placed under the window, I bought it years ago at Kirkland’s. I layered a beige faux sheepskin rug and textured woven pillow in desert hues on top (sources below).

The curtains I’ve had for a few years, they’re sheers with golden threads woven through in a geometric pattern. They’re quite lovely, I can’t find anything similar online. I’m so happy I kept them, they were tucked in a closet and I repurposed them here.

The bed linens are a combination of an inexpensive block print quilt I found online and also a pretty embroidered lumbar pillow I spied at Pottery Barn.

On the wall are woven plant holders tucked inside macramé beaded plant hangers to add more texture and greenery.

The light fixture was shockingly affordable, this drop beaded pendant was only $70 and fits the style of the space perfectly. I definitely would buy this again for a coastal or boho dining, bedroom, or office space.

I repuropsed the IKEA Hemnes dresser that used to be in my son’s room when he was little. I painted it in Benjamin Moore ‘Louisberg Green’, a gorgeous shade between sage and olive.

A ladder shelf next to the door stores personal decorative items. My girl prefers fabric to doors for her closet so I added three pairs of lace curtains to disguise the clothes and shelving inside.

She lives in Santa Barbara, so I framed three of her favorite sunset photos in the space, above the nightstands and also the dresser. The nightstands used to be used together as a credenza in my local shop but I separated them and turned them into the perfect bedside tables which also provide extra storage.

I brought most of the plants from my local shop that I’m closing into this space, they’re a mix of faux and real.

The rounded rattan headboard was a budget buy (source below), it adds just the right amount of texture to the wall behind the bed and repeats the shape of the similar chair under the window.

I love the palette of this room, dusty pinks, apricot hues, various shades of green, touches of burgundy.

Our Coco loves this space, she’s waiting for her mama (my daughter) to come home, so she naps in here every day.

She will be home soon for spring break!

    Available sources from this space:

rattan headboard / woven planters / rattan front nightstand cabinets

faux sheepskin rug (on chair) / woven pillow on rattan chair / beaded chandelier

standing framed floor mirror / block print quilt set / lace closet curtains

embroidered lumbar pillow / monstera leaf wall hanging
