Happy almost 2025! I’ve already switched gears and I’m looking toward the future. I’m working hard at my law firm taking on more responsibility and a lot of interesting cases, but still spending my non work hours admiring inspiring design content, pinning images for the Mediterranean house I want to build in another year or two, and planning a trip to Morocco in the late spring. 2025 holds so much promise for growth and expansion but I’m also committed to maintaining a healthy life balance. This time of year is so interesting, so many design articles doing recaps of 2024,…
Hello friends, happy weekend to you. It’s been a few weeks…. what a somber start to the year reading about all the fires near LA, we have friends and family down there and the stories are tragic. We had our own catastrophic wildfires in Northern California back in 2017 and now watching these recent fires in the Pacific Palisades is heartbreaking. My son left for college this week, so I’m adjusting to his absence. He’s the baby. He took the fall semester off to get some work experience and postponed his college admission because he didn’t feel ready. I’m proud…
Cold January greetings! We’ve had a week of blue skies but it’s been oh so cold here in Northern California! I saw pictures this week showing snowfall in Florida, woah! My brother and his family in Savannah had snow as well, so they tied a huge inflatable tube to the back of the minivan and went tubing down the street, the photos were so funny. The forecast shows rain this weekend, and being the pluviophile that I am I can’t wait to crack the window and fall asleep to the sound. I’m excited to start traveling again in a few…
Hello all and Happy February to you. I’m at home today watching the Superbowl and catching up on some little projects around the house. Now that the nest is empty, it’s quiet and clean but still has those cozy touches and that feeling of comfort. I’ve been lighting a favorite candle in the evening and keeping warm in our cozy study with the electric fireplace that gives me just the right amount of heat and ambiance. It’s my favorite room in winter. I hope you’re staying cozy too, spring will be here soon. Favorite links from the week: This home…
Happy Valentine’s Day all! The sun just popped out after a week of storms and it’s a beautiful day. It’s still so cold, and on winter days I like to work from home sipping my coffee by morning light as I work on my laptop. There’s a a lot of chatter online romanticizing one’s life, and I agree with that when it means cherishing the little things and making your life a reflection of what’s important to you. We can have a love affair with not just our lives but our homes too! If scrolling through social media makes you…
This is the first weekend I’ve been home in a month! I was away the past three weekends, first we visited my daughter in Santa Barbara, next we ran away on a 4 day trip to Kauai, and then we drove up north to visit our son at his university. Finally, a weekend to enjoy being at home! I can feel spring in the air, we had a few days of sunshine and the trees are beginning to bud, but there is still rain in the forecast. I’ve been at my law firm for five months now, I’ve learned so…
Greetings all, just popping in to wish you all a Happy Easter! I’ve been keeping busy, mostly working, but I kept a promise to myself and began a fun creative project I’ve been wanting to try for a long time. I’ll have to hit pause on it before I finish because I’m leaving on an international trip on Thursday. Each year my travel besties and I pick a new country to visit together. This year we’re off to the Aegean Sea to tour the Cyclades in Greece. We’ve booked a series of ferry rides and apartments . I feel so…
Hardwood flooring is one of the most desirable features in any home, offering a blend of natural beauty, long-lasting durability, and timeless appeal. But when it comes time to choose the right material, many homeowners find themselves debating between solid hardwood and engineered hardwood. While both types offer significant benefits, there are specific situations where engineered hardwood makes more sense—both functionally and financially. Understanding when and why to choose engineered flooring can help you get the most out of your investment. At Taite Floor.org, we offer an extensive selection of premium engineered and solid hardwood flooring—along with expert advice to…
Whether you’re laying down some sleek new vinyl planks or giving your home a fresh look with cosy real wood flooring, getting your room measurements right is crucial. Nobody wants to be halfway through a job and realise they’re short on materials—or worse, stuck with heaps of expensive leftovers. So let’s break it down into simple steps that’ll help you measure like a pro (tape measure in hand, confidence fully intact). Some places will make you feel like you need to follow a super-complicated process but you don’t. You don’t need a PhD to work it all out…just a tape…
By now you know that we deeply believe that a house always evolves to work with a family’s changing needs, but I’d say this kitchen and attached sitting area are as close to absolutely done as ever. In fact over the last two years they’ve held pretty steady – we did update the kitchen light to my dream chandelier that looks like bubbles at a beach sunset. And before that we finally settled on the right seating that fit perfectly into the seating area. But yeah, since then… settled! Blissfully so! Other than a few tiny accessory changes like a…
