Choosing the right flooring and kitchen worktop combination can be tricky – you want it to look stylish, and yet if you buy them separately it can be a bit of a risk to match them up. To help you decide on the best combination for your home, read our tips for matching your wooden floor to your kitchen worktops for effortless style.

    Wood and wood

Some people think you can’t have wooden floors if you have wooden worktops, or if your kitchen cabinets are wood then you shouldn’t have wood on the floors. We think these rules are definitely made to be broken. As far your material choices go, it’s all about balance. A wooden worktops paired with a wooden floor where the direction of the planks is the same and the colours are similar can add a beautiful fluid feel to your kitchen, and when paired with gloss cabinets it won’t look too overwhelming. If you have wooden cabinets and you want wooden floors, separate them with colour choices to keep the balance.

    Colours can match, or complement

Speaking of balance with colour, work with the natural tones in the wood to find the perfect fit for your kitchen. Pick out the dominate colours in your worktops to find a key secondary colour to incorporate in the rest of your decorating scheme so that everything complements. Don’t forget, you can use the cabinet colours, wall colours and tiles to help you create a beautiful balance. If you would prefer to match your kitchen worktops and floors, that’s perfectly acceptable – just make sure your cabinet colours contrast so that it doesn’t all blend in too much together.

Herringbone parquet and granite are timeless classics

If you want to add an element of luxury to your kitchen, try pairing granite worktops with a stunning herringbone parquet floor. This modern kitchen design uses similar colours of worktop and floor with a darker cabinet colour but the end result is absolutely stunning. Our grey herringbone parquet flooring paired with dark cabinets and a light worktop would be an incredibly stylish addition to your home.

Take advantage of our free sample service

Don’t risk hating the combination of worktops and flooring – after all, you’ll have to live with it for quite a while. Try before you buy with our free sample service. We can supply you with up to three free samples so you can see what your potential new flooring will look like in situ before you commit to it.free samples
