    100 One Syllable Girl Names

I’m back with more baby names because, well, I love everything about them! One-syllable girl names are gaining popularity in recent years, especially as longer names like Olivia, Charlotte, and Isabella become oversaturated. In fact, only 1 single-syllable girl name broke into the latest Top 50 list from the Social Security Administration (#40: Grace). So choosing a one-syllable name is a great way to find something unique, while still meeting your taste for classic or modern, sweet or strong, etc. Plus they make great middle names.

One-syllable names have other advantages too, like balancing out a longer last name. Experts recommend using an unequal number of syllables across first, middle, and last names (like 1-3-2) for the most pleasant-sounding rhythm. One-syllable names can also be easier to spell and pronounce, which helps everyone from young children to coffeehouse baristas.

    Popular One-Syllable Girl Names

We scoured the Top 500 Baby Girl Names of 2024 (the 2025 list isn’t out yet) and only 26 were one-syllable names. That’s just 5% of the list! And two were alternate spellings of the same name! Here are those top one-syllable names, along with their places on the list:

    1. Grace (#40)
    2. Claire (#67)
    3. Meave (#75)
    4. Jade (#84)
    5. Quinn (#96)
    6. Rose (#115)
    7. Sage (#146, see also Saige below)
    8. June (#152)
    9. Sloane (#153)
    10. Ruth (#172)
    11. Reese (#190)
    12. Blake (#210)
    13. Wren (#213)
    14. Blair (#218, see also Blaire below)
    15. Faith (#249)
    16. Jane (#269)
    17. Brooke (#208)
    18. Hope (#317)
    19. Dream (#367)
    20. Brynn (#384)
    21. Reign (#434)
    22. Joy (#442)
    23. Blaire (#446, see also Blair above)
    24. Saige (#448, see also Sage above)
    25. Elle (#479)
    26. Skye (#480)

So the ones above are the most popular (in 2024, the 2025 list isn’t out yet), but the single-syllable names below are our favorite 100 options. Personally, I really love Jane, Deane, Kit, June, Lane, Kay, Lake, and Viv, but here’s the whole list below:
